It always feels like it is far too soon to lose a friend, and a brother. Age isn’t the issue that strikes us so hard. It is when death is so unfathomable because that person was so vitally alive, contributing in their own unique way to all of their friends their great cheer and happiness in their every contact with us all. John Phillips was this kind of man.
He was a large hearted man who would drop everything if he thought that he could help somebody along whether it be, physically, mentally or financially, He always had a joke to share with those around him. When John and Mo would show up at a get together you knew the tempo of the party would jump up a few notches.
Not just a ‘Good guy’. A GREAT guy. And I believe that he is, still. I am very happy to have known him. I had expected to know him better. I am sure that I will, as stories come out, as time passes. We will not ever forget him. I am certain that I can speak without reservation for all of us in the BCUMF of A in expressing our deep sadness
and condolences especially towards John’s dear wife Maureen, and for all of us. We are measurably diminished.

IN MEMORY OF “PORKCHOP” UMF #53 DARRYL SETTLE
I am very unhappy to report that we lost Darryl Settle to a heart attack on January 07 at 0700. BCUMF #53. ‘PORKCHOP’ was the Okanagan area Rep for the BC chapter, and was an influential and always outspoken member. Porkchop was only in his forties.
We all do as we wish. That is one of our most guarded and cherished attributes, and one that we appreciate and respect in each other. But please, do what you need to do to survive if you can. Each man is his own judge on the last day.Too many are going.
I’m pretty fucked up, and I’m not alone.
